Nicholas J. Celebrezze is Of Counsel member of our Family Law and Government Relations practices. Nick’s practice primarily focusses on family law issues ranging from divorce, dissolution of marriage, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, defense of domestic violence victims, and the division of marital estates. He also serves as general counsel for numerous professional athletes, assisting their agents with contract management, as well as media and public relations, as well as assisting businesses and families with Government Relations Issues, at a local, state, and national level.
Prior to joining McCarthy Lebit, Nick enjoyed a long career in public service, and currently serves as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor of Lorain County, in the Office of Lorain County Prosecutor J.D. Tomlinson. A former Cuyahoga County Probation Officer (2000-2004) and Assistant County Prosecutor (2004-2006), Nick was elected as a Councilman in the City of Parma where he served from 2006-2012. In 2012 Nick was then elected to serve as a Member of the Ohio General Assembly from 2012-2019, and served as the Assistant Minority Leader of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015-2019. During his tenure in the Ohio Legislature, Nick served as Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, Transportation Committee, Rules and Reference Committee, the Ohio Institutional Inspection Committee, and served as a Commissioner on the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood from 2014-2019.
Nick also has a well-documented career in the private sector, forming his own family-owned law firm in Parma Ohio, The Celebrezze Group, LLC, from 2006 until the firm merged with McCarthy Lebit in 2015. A graduate of the University of Akron, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from the Bliss Institute of American Politics, and CSU’s C|M College of Law, he entered the practice of law in 2004.
A proud member of the Parma Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the Lorain County Bar Association, the Ohio Prosecutor’s Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Justinian Forum, and the Chairman of Partizan Akron Sports Club, Nick’s dedication to North East Ohio is unwavering. He has received numerous awards and in 2013 was named a Fellow of the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership through the Council of State Governments, receiving an Honorary Degree through the University of Wisconsin. In both 2015 and 2016, Nick earned the recognition of his peers when he was included on the list of Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Stars of Family Law.
