Overview
Kristen M. Hoover is an intellectual property attorney at McCarthy Lebit. Ms. Hoover’s practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution, as well as copyright registration, trade secrets and general intellectual property protection. Ms. Hoover handles both domestic and international intellectual property matters. She advises clients on patent and trademark enforcement and infringement issues, prepares advisory opinions on patent and trademark matters, performs IP audits, drafts and addresses cease and desist letters, and handles inter partes trademark proceedings such as oppositions and cancellations.
Ms. Hoover also works on contractual matters related to intellectual property, including assignments, licenses, non-disclosure agreements, and technology agreements. While her specialty is biomedical engineering, Ms. Hoover’s work covers a variety of areas of technology including biomedical, mechanical, automotive, electronic, software, and consumer products.
Ms. Hoover earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Akron School of Law concentrating in Intellectual Property. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and Certificate in Business Administration from Saint Louis University. While attending Saint Louis University, Ms. Hoover served as president of the Society of Women Engineers and is still currently a member. She is also a member of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), a national co-ed service fraternity.
Ms. Hoover is a native of the Cleveland area and community service continues to be an important way for her to be an involved and active member of her community. She is currently the Vice-President of the Ballet in the City Board and a Director for the Ingenuity Cleveland Board. Additionally, she is a CLE Ambassador through the Downtown Cleveland Alliance.
