McCarthy, Lebit, Crystal & Liffman principal E. Roger Stewart was the guest speaker at a recent Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association’s webinar concerning the tax implications on settlements involving investor claims against securities and commodities brokerage firms.
MLCL was in a unique position to offer Stewart’s services in support of the webinar as the firm has strong tax and creditor & debtor rights practices. Hugh Berkson, also a McCarthy Lebit principal and leader of the firm’s Creditor & Debtor Rights practice group, recruited the tax specialist Stewart to serve as a subject matter expert. Stewart’s extensive background in tax law and accounting came in handy as he fielded complex questions from about 30 PIABA members who participated in the webinar.
