CLEVELAND, OH (April 20, 2017) – McCarthy Lebit is pleased to share that Smart Business recognized Ann-Marie Ahern as a Smart Women Awards: Progressive Woman Honoree. The Smart Women Awards recognize the achievements of leading businesswomen. Those honored with the Progressive Woman Award are female mangers or executives who have risen through the ranks in their career and overcame significant challenges along the way.
Ahern is the head of the employment practice at McCarthy Lebit and the first female to be named to the firm’s management board. She is also a co-founder of the firm’s Women Professional Committee. Ahern focuses her practice on the representation of employees in discrimination, harassment, pay disparity and wrongful discharge cases. She also advocates on behalf of state and federal whistleblowers. Additionally, she negotiates employment and severance agreements for executives and advises corporate clients on employment law compliance.
Ahern is also recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and Ohio Super Lawyers®, which included her on their Top 25 Women in Cleveland and Top 50 Women in Ohio lists for 2017. She also maintains a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ of AV® Preeminent™ and an Avvo rating of 10.0 Superb. In 2014, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association honored her as one of the Women in Law Making a Difference.
Ahern earned her juris doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her bachelor of arts from the University of Dayton. She is an active member of the community and is a past Trustee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation. She is a frequent speaker and author on emerging employment law issues.
