Overview

McCarthy Lebit’s employment lawyers are some of the most sought-after employment lawyers in the area.  Our principal employment litigation attorney, Ann-Marie Ahern, has devoted her career exclusively to employment law. She and our other lawyers in the employment law practice are results-oriented advocates. We are widely recognized as lawyers with exceptional knowledge of employment law, who also have the skills, and tenacity to litigate the most complex and high stakes cases. When appropriate, we work to resolve matters quickly and efficiently.  However, when litigation is necessary, we won’t hesitate to call on our years of trial experience.

McCarthy Lebit represents employees and executives who have been the victim of unlawful employment practices, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and unfair pay practices. We also represent whistleblowers in False Claims Act litigation.

When representing employees, our attorneys have been involved in many outcomes in excess of one million dollars, including a $30 million verdict on behalf of a single age discrimination victim and a $61 million False Claims Act settlement.   We litigate employment cases throughout the State of Ohio in both state and federal courts, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

We understand that the loss of a job is a stressful and often economically devastating experience. Our plaintiff’s attorneys have the experience required to take on companies of any size and hold them accountable for illegal employment decisions. We provide a personal level of service at every juncture, so that our clients feel confident that their matters are of utmost importance.

Our employment law practice also represents terminated employees in severance negotiations and review of severance packages. We understand the uncertainty facing those who are newly unemployed and the importance of achieving the maximum possible severance payment to ease the financial burdens that result from an unplanned separation from employment.

In addition to advocating on behalf of employees in litigation, we also advise our corporate clients on the full spectrum of employment disputes. We assist clients in managing difficult employment situations in a way that complies with the myriad of employment laws, and in drafting employment policies and handbooks. We serve as trusted advisors in helping our corporate clients avoid missteps in the employment process that can lead to costly litigation. We also litigate on behalf of corporate clients in matters involving a broad range of employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment and non-competition issues.

We are particularly adept at representing medical residents and physicians and pull from the strength of our other practices when necessary to meet their unique needs. Specifically, we handle employee matters including the negotiation of employment contracts and severance agreements, resident concerns such as FMLA claims, as well as physician group issues including mergers and acquisitions.

The experience of our unique team of professionals, who understand litigation from both the employee’s perspective and the employer’s perspective, enables us to provide a superior level of performance and results for our clients. Unlike many firms that limit their practice to employment law, as a full service law firm, we can and do call on the experience of our other practice groups, including our taxation, business, or estate planning lawyers.
