Nicholas J. Celebrezze joined McCarthy, Lebit, Crystal & Liffman Co., L.P.A. as an Attorney Of Counsel in 2015 in our Family Law and Sports & Media divisions.
Prior to joining the firm, Nick enjoyed a long career in both the public sector and as the managing member of a family-owned law firm. Nick is a graduate of the University of Akron, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from the Bliss Institute of American Politics, and Cleveland Marshall College of Law, and entered the practice of law in 2004.
A former Cuyahoga County Probation Officer (2000-2004) and Assistant County Prosecutor (2004-2006), Nick spent the early days of his career handling criminal cases ranging from aggravated murder, theft, and crimes of violence to prosecuting child support violators and crimes against families. In 2006, he formed a small family-owned law firm focusing his practice primarily on family law issues ranging from divorce, dissolution of marriage, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, defense of domestic violence victims, and the division of marital estates. Nick also serves as general counsel for numerous professional athletes, assisting their agents with contract management, as well as media and public relations.
Public service has long been an importance and a passion for Nick. A former City of Parma Councilman from 2006-2012, Nick has been an elected Member of the Ohio General Assembly since 2012 and in 2015 was elected by his peers to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader of the Ohio House of Representatives. In 2015, Nick was appointed as a Commissioner of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood.
Nick is also active throughout the North East Ohio community as a member of the Parma Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Justinian Forum, and is the elected Chairman of Partizan Akron Sports Club, which encourages sportsmanship and public service throughout North East Ohio. He was elected by the citizens of Parma to serve on the Parma City Charter Commission in 2003 and has proudly donated his time every year for the Parma Animal Shelter adopt-a-thon. In September of 2011, Nick was named the official color commentator for local television high school soccer matches for PAC-TV. From 2013-2015, Nick served on the Ohio Institution Inspection Committee ensuring that our State’s prison and rehabilitation system exceeded national standards and in 2013 was one of only three Ohioans to be named a Fellow of the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership through the Council of State Governments. In 2015, he was selected as a SuperLawyer Rising Star of Family Law in Ohio.
