Exciting News, Announcements and Awards
Nicholas J. Celebrezze joined the firm as Of Counsel this year. Nick brought his Public Law practice to the firm and helps clients with government relations, election law matters and the negotiation of government regulation issues. He also practices Family Law, specifically divorce, dissolution, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, defense of domestic violence victims and the division of marital estates, as well as Sports & Media law, where he provides counsel to professional athletes and their agents in contract management and public relations.
This year, the firm added Defamation law to its practice areas. Defamation is the damage of a reputation through written or spoken means, which are referred to as libel and slander respectively.
Through expansion the firm acquired a Public Law practice in 2015, which helps clients with government relations matters and the negotiation of government regulation issues, as well as provides counsel on election law matters.
With the on-boarding of our two newest attorneys, the firm also developed a Sports & Media practice to provide sophisticated counsel to athletes and media personalities in the negotiation of contracts and talent agreements, as well as marketing, sponsorship and appearance agreements.
Stuart A. Mintz was presented with the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Judge Richard Markus Adjunct Faculty Award at the Cleveland-Marshall Law Alumni Association Annual Recognition Luncheon on May 21, 2015. The award recognizes the importance of the practitioner’s perspective in academia and the unique expertise that adjunct faculty bring to the classroom. Stu was selected based off of his long service to the school, his strong student evaluations, and his professional distinctions and accomplishments.
David A. Schaefer was inducted into the Case Western Reserve University Society of Benchers on June 11, 2015. The Society of Benchers recognizes graduates of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law who are deemed outstanding contributors to the legal profession and the welfare of the school, as well as those who are leaders in promoting the betterment of society and are devoted to the highest standards and traditions of the law.

Katie D. Arthurs completed training in Collaborative Law/Collaborative Divorce and Mediation.
Susan C. Stone obtained a complete reversal for Northeast Ohio college student who was suspended and whose scholarship was revoked.
A team of McCarthy Lebit employees were joined by family and friends of the firm for this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The team came in 5th out of 54 companies for fundraising.
The Harvest for Hunger campaign benefitted from the Firm’s continued support of the Cleveland Foodbank. During the month of March, many raffles, auctions and dress down days were donated to the campaign. McCarthy Lebit was presented with the Platinum Sponsor Award reflecting that we met our goal of $100+ per employee in donations.
McCarthy Lebit attorney Andrew S. Perry shaved his head for St. Baldrick’s – an annual charity event on St. Patrick’s Day that raises money to find a cure for childhood cancer.
We supported the American Heart Association’s “Go Red” for Women campaign by raising money through dress down days and wearing red on National Go Red Day.
Each year, we participate in Friday dress down days. Our employees nominate and vote on these charities. This year, our donations will support the efforts of the Hospice of the Western Reserve, Our Lady of the Wayside and The Cleveland Foodbank.
The firm collected cash and dozens of pairs of new children’s socks and underwear by hosting a Sock and Underwear Drive for Shoes and Clothes for Kids, organized by Joyce Blakely and SC4K Associate Board member Steven P. Larson.
