Failure to Vaccinate Against Meningitis

Representing Clients Who Were Not Informed About the Meningitis Vaccine, Menactra®

Despite the recommendations for meningitis vaccination by the U.S. Government, some health care providers do not discuss it with parents, or simply do not offer the vaccine. It is a dreadful oversight that can lead to a disease that would have been prevented with proper vaccination.

Christian R. Patno, Esq. of McCarthy, Lebit, Crystal & Liffman Co., L.P.A. has the extensive experience, expert witnesses and resources necessary to fight for compensation for families who were not offered or informed of the meningitis vaccination, Menactra®, by their physicians and whose children have suffered from the effects of the disease. Contact his Cleveland, Ohio, office for a free initial consultation.

The Importance of Meningitis Vaccination
Individuals get meningitis from contact with others, and its symptoms are often similar to the flu. Unlike the flu, meningitis progresses quickly and causes death or serious injury in as little as 48 hours. Those who survive can still suffer from catastrophic disabilities, such as limb loss, hearing loss, lung damage and kidney damage.

The majority of meningitis cases in adolescents and young adults are vaccine-preventable. Due to an increased supply of the vaccine, Menactra®, the recommendation for immunization has been expanded recently. Unfortunately, some professionals pick and choose who should receive Menactra®, in violation of the national standards. This has resulted in some young people contracting a devastating disease that others who saw the same professional were immunized against.

If your medical professional has not discussed the Menactra® immunization with you, or does not offer it, you may have an actionable claim if meningitis results. A successful case is often accompanied with economic damages well in excess of $20 million. The damages include pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical bills, diminished employability and an extended life care plan for the victim.

A complete vaccination schedule, which includes Menactra®, is available through the Center for Disease Control or the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Contact Attorney Patno for a free initial consultation about meningitis vaccination. His office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., M-F, other hours by appointment.
