Customer Disputes Against Merrill Lynch Broker Sylvester Knox May 23, 2017

Sylvester Knox, a broker and investment adviser with eight different firms over 27 years, is under investigation for a variety of alleged violations. The Investor Claims attorneys at McCarthy Lebit are investigating claims against Knox.

Since January 2017, Knox has been registered with FSC Securities Corporation of Short Hills, New Jersey. Immediately prior to that, he was with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated from 2000 through February 2017.

Unauthorized Transactions

Knox has several customer disputes pending against him, including one from July 2016. The allegations in the complaint include unauthorized transactions along with misrepresentation, unsuitable investment strategy, and failure to follow instructions. The customers have requested $999,999 in damages.

In another pending complaint from March 2017, a customer makes allegations relating to unauthorized trades, failure to adhere to instructions, and unsuitable recommendations relating to investments.

Knox also has been the subject of a number of complaints that have been settled between 1999 and 2016. In a complaint from September 2013, a customer alleged that Knox failed to follow instructions, made unsuitable investment recommendations, and misrepresented and omitted material facts.
